The newest sibling to the wider Daisy Green Collection, Timmy Green is located in Victoria’s newest upscale development, Nova. The Aussie-inspired all-day menu features many ‘clean’ options, but brunch remains the favourite. The menu features the simple classics, but each with their own unique twist.
First off was the Aussie classic, avo on toast. Served with striking charcoal sourdough (which I’m told is a great hangover cure…I’ll let you decide that one), the bread really popped off the plate and gave the dish some ballsy character. Further to this, we had the broccoli and corn fritters, again with avo and a poached egg. For such simple components, these hearty fritters were full of flavour. The lemon juice worked well with the entire dish, adding some zing and enhancing the freshness. But what really made it was the small accompaniment of their house-made chilli pesto. With a subtle heat and slight sweetness, this stuff is a game-changer and brought each of the egg dishes together perfectly. If the pesto doesn’t already come with your meal, order it anyway – you will not regret it!
It is however probably best to specify how you like your eggs. If you’re a fan of some #yolkporn then request runny yolks as ours were a bit on the hard side. On another note, this could be due to the amount of time gushing over our food and taking the perfect Insta-worthy picture. It’s no wonder Timmy is popping up all over Londoner’s Instagram feeds, with bright colours and drool-worthy dishes.
The showstopper of this meal however, was the house-made maple granola. A beautiful mountain of colour and crunch, with coconut flakes, dried cranberries and a drizzle of berry coulis, this dish won hands down in the looks department. The thick Greek yoghurt brought a very welcomed sharpness to the sweetness of the whole dish – although perhaps a bit too sweet for my liking. Despite containing mostly natural sweeteners like honey and maple syrup, I can’t help but feel that a whole portion to yourself might be a little excessive, even for the sweetest of tooth’s.
The colourful food and natural light (with additional outdoor seating) mean this place will be popular in the sunshine and could brighten even the dullest of those unpredictable summer days. The glass-fronted restaurant with reclaimed oak interiors and a multitude of greenery is an indoor oasis. It’s the perfect tranquil spot to escape the bustle of London life. The welcoming and attentive staff, along with the entire relaxed meal we experienced are reflective of those typical chilled out Aussie vibes.
With an array of both sweet and savoury dishes, you’ll be sure to find something that floats your boat; they also cater well for allergies and vegetarians. An easy 8-minute walk from Gymbox Victoria, Timmy Green is a handy spot to refuel (or cure your Sunday morning hang) with something healthy and nutritious or more of a sweet treat if you deserve something a little bit naughty.
