Dare: Gymbod – meet Sophie Hardy

Sophie Harding, 22, works in marketing and is a member of Gymbox Covent Garden. "The most daring thing I've ever done is surfboard topless" she says. We meet her.

Hi Sophie, tell us the most interesting thing about you?

The most interesting thing about me is that I lived in California whilst I was at university, which was absolutely amazing.

You love running, tell us about that?

I would say running is the biggest passion in my life. When I run I feel like nothing else matters, all my problems dissolve and I feel I can achieve anything. It releases all my stress. I run because it uses all parts of my body - it's also definitely an addictive exercise!

How does Gymbox help you with training for races?

Gymbox is perfect in helping me prepare for races as it has every machine you need to tone up, there are friendly gym instructors to motivate you everyday and there is always loud music to keep you motivated. Gymbox is also fantastic because it's right by my work... I can even go at lunchtimes! Its also so clean, there's never a queue to use machines and you can always get help if you need it.

Do you have a time you are desperate to crack?

I am desperate to run a half marathon in 1.5 hours. That would be a massive achievement for me.

You work in marketing, can you describe the Gymbox brand in three words?

Addictive, eccentric and rewarding!

What you love most about training with us?

The thing I most love about training at Gymbox is that the instructors don't let you give up, the room is always full of people that are all so determined, and there is always a stimulating atmosphere.

Do you have any favourite classes?

I haven't tried many gym classes so far but I have tried the frame workouts and they kill!!! My legs ached for days after. That is definitely a class I would go to again. I would like to try the boxing classes.

It is 'dare' month this month, what's the most daring thing you've ever done, in fitness or otherwise?

The most daring thing I've ever done is surfboard topless. I actually got knocked out by the surfboard and had to have 7 staples in my head at a hospital in Malibu. I have been left with a dent in my head as a result! This taught me that I should probably stick to my favourite sport, running!

And what would you like to dare to do in the future?

A fitness date I would like to set myself to do is the New York marathon. This would be a massive achievement!
