No Excuses: No Train, No Gain!

Letting your work get in the way of keeping fit, staying healthy and getting strong? Well, we're not buying it. Don't use work as an excuse, there are ways to keep focussed and fit in training into your busy schedules. No excuses! Says Stephanie Muzzall.

Get up early

This one is the obvious one, but it works. Set your alarm earlier than usual and do a class before work. You'll feel smug all day, and you won't have time to talk yourself out of it. You get the added benefit of not having to squeeze into rush hour trains as well. Keep porridge pots in your desk at work that just need hot water so you can have a quick breakfast al-desko. Or reward yourself with a breakfast pit stop on the way into the office. Check out the class timetable to see our early classes.

Hit the gym before you hit the bar

Heading out for drinks after work? Catch a quick 30/45 minute class while everyone else faffs around leaving the office and getting to the bar. You can have a quick shower in Gymbox's lovely changing rooms and get to the bar for a well earned drink and hopefully someone else will have already got the drinks in. Trust me, your colleagues will be jealous that you managed to fit it in and you might even convince them to join you next time.

Away on business?

That's no excuse! You don't even need to squeeze your trainers into your hand luggage. I use YouTube workouts (like this one below) in my hotel room, and always pack my swimming costume if there's a pool. If there's a hotel gym, why not try some of those fab moves you've learnt in your favourite Gymbox class.


Still struggling to fit anything in during the week? Message your friends and organise a weekend morning class together and bribe them with a fun brunch afterwards. It's a great way to catch up and because you're meeting each other it's difficult to pull out – no excuses. Just think by 11am you would've worked out and caught up with your mates, the perfect start to a productive weekend. Right? My favourite is to go to my local Park Run or hit up WattBike Cardio at Covent Garden and go to Kopapa for brunch afterwards.
