Hi Josimar! Wow, you look super happy in the photos, were you having a good day?
Ha-ha! I always look happy, because I'm always happy. I was having a very good day when they were taken. Also, your photographer Ves was very charming.
When you wake up in the morning, what's the first thing you think about?
The first thing I think about it how to make my day productive and amazing – for myself and for the clients I'm working with.
As a busy VPT, what are the five things that you need around you to keep you going?
1) be yourself 2) be a good listener 3) be approachable 4) keep yourself updated with training methods, and 5) be highly professional at all times, which for me is the most important aspect of my work.
You're trained in nutrition, but what's your guilty pleasure when no one's looking?
I have to admit It's definitely homemade cake, which I can make myself – any type of cake! Not many people know this, but I have some pretty impressive cooking skills.
You were overweight as a child, what made you turn it all around?
Yes, that's true. I was overweight when I was younger. One of the reasons I wanted to make the change was the lack of energy I used to feel, all the time. Enough was enough. I wanted to change my life around. When I got in better shape and lost weight, I was able to play with my friends more often and I felt happier as a person. It changed my life.
What's piece of advice would you give to those wanting to lose weight, but are struggling with it?
Never give up! Even when it gets really difficult. Make sure you train hard on every session, think of it like it's your last ever workout. Also, don't allow people to put you off your goals, and most importantly, think positively about yourself. Also, be careful with your food intake – nutrition plays a vital role in helping you lose weight.
You have a military background. What have been the biggest learnings you've taken from that experience?
One of the biggest things I learned from being in the army was to face life with different point of view – believe that nothing is impossible. I always try to do my best in everything I do, whether it's competing with myself and with others, or how I train people. I have learned to adapt to any type of environment, situation and country.
What are your own personal fitness goals?
My fitness goal at the moment is to increase my cardiovascular – I want to reduce my my body fat. Fitness goals never go away, there is always something challenging to overcome.
