We decided to throw new member and budding blogger Amy Blaker into the jaws of Train Like An Olympian. But the question is, did she survive?
I want to share a bit about my trip to Gymbox, Bank, last week. For those of you who don't know, Gymbox is what I'd describe as the future of gyms. They take working out very seriously, while making sweating fun and entertaining at the same time. It's like no other gym - what makes it so different is its impressive interiors, unusual classes and even live DJs, who motivate you that little bit more.
There are so many classes I want to go to, but Gymbox HQ sent me in to review Train Like An Olympian. Admittedly, this isn't a class I would have normally picked for myself, especially as I'm not feeling in the best shape currently. I felt nervous before the class started, but at the same time, determined! I didn't know what to expect, but I'd prepared myself for a hardcore workout...
So, how did it go? Well,I survived the class and actually really enjoyed it! I knew it wasn't going to be easy, but a workout isn't really a workout if you don't push yourself. The instructor Hendrick, also known as 'Superman', did a fantastic job at keeping us motivated throughout the class. It was a great environment to be in, with loud music and a class full of determined people. No one wanted to give up, and I think this really helped me to keep going.
The class consisted of lots of push-ups, squats, burpees and planks. Ouch. Often there would be a fixed routine which we would repeat over, giving us a chance to pick up rhythm and break into a sweat. The class was 45 minutes and afterwards I felt that I had worked every single muscle in my body. I felt amazing.
This class was just what I needed to push myself back towards getting fit again. If I can do it, then I'm sure anyone can and I would say it's definitely worth giving it a go.
