Rob Myers-McLaughlin is studio and operations manager at Westfield Stratford. He shares with us what exciting classes are coming up and what he thinks is so unique about Gymbox.
Hi Rob! You’ve recently taken over as Studio and Operations Manager at Westfield Stratford, what’s coming up class wise?
January 2016 is going to be pretty damn awesome group fitness-wise. I'm excited about the new aerial class Cocoon. I’m not someone who can sit still or switch off my mind easily, so Cocoon is the perfect remedy for a crazy day. Come try it on Thursday evenings at Stratford!
What is it about Gymbox that makes it unique from other gyms?
The vibe! The members are great, the staff are fun, the classes are crazy and the clubs are second to none. I've been in a lot of gyms, and it's safe to say I've never come across something as unique as Gymbox.
Out of all the classes do you have any favourites?
What did you do before you came to Gymbox?
I’ve been involved in group fitness for nearly 10 years as an instructor, trainer and presenter.
You’re head trainer for Beach Body UK, what do you enjoy most about that? (are you still doing that?)
Being head trainer for Beach Body UK is awesome. I get to train people to do what I love the most – group fitness. The role has allowed me to travel the world teaching at fitness conventions, training instructors and also gave me the opportunity to have my own Jane Fonda moment and be on the INSANITY workout DVDs.
Do you have any tips as to how to get into shape after the season’s excesses? And stay motivated?
Do something that challenges you but you also enjoy. Find a class that makes you never want to miss a session!
What are your personal goals for 2016?
To learn Spanish!
