Who’s Up for some Hot Bed Action?
Reformer Pilates isn’t just a vibe, it’s a full-body workout disguised in a stylish frame with springs. And at Gymbox, we’ve flipped the script on traditional Pilates, partnering with Pilat3s to deliver sessions that are built to level you up.
We’re here for serious movement, smart programming, and an energy that makes you actually want to train.
Because it works, and you’ll look damn good doing it.
Reformer Pilates is having its moment, and for good reason. It hits the sweet spot between strength and stretch, helping you sculpt lean muscle, light up your core, and move like you’ve got your sh*t together.
It’s low impact, high return, and effective.
90% of your Instagram swear by it. Physios recommend it. And your mate who suddenly has posture like they’re in Swan Lake? Yeah, it’s probably Reformer.
We’ve partnered with Pilat3s, to bring you next-level training method straight out of the Netherlands.
We’ve taken the best of Reformer and levelled it up with:
1. Remember to bring Pilates socks. These are designed to stop you slipping on the beds. If you forget them you can buy a pair at Reception.
2. Arrive 5 mins early. To find your bed and get set up before for the health and safety briefing.
3. Get comfortable. The instructor will let you know if they plan to do hand-on corrections. If you don’t want that, just give them a heads up. Whatever makes you comfortable.
4. Relax and enjoy. Don’t worry if the person on the bed next to you looks like they’ve been doing this years – they probably have. We’ve all had a Bambi on Ice moment on a reformer.
Reformer Pilates is a full-body workout performed on a Reformer bed: a spring-loaded resistance machine that uses pulleys, straps, and a sliding carriage to add resistance and support to Pilates movements. Unlike mat Pilates, the Reformer creates resistance throughout the full range of motion, which means more muscle engagement, better control, and faster results. It is low impact and high return, making it effective for building lean strength, improving posture, and supporting injury recovery.
Yes. Reformer Pilates classes are fully included in your Gymbox membership at no extra charge. Most standalone reformer studios in London charge between £28 and £35 per class, or £140 to £220 per month for a dedicated reformer membership. At Gymbox, you get unlimited reformer classes alongside the full gym, all other class categories, and the recovery suite, from £105 per month on a 12-month contract.
Reformer Pilates is currently available at three Gymbox locations: Finsbury Park, Farringdon, and Victoria. All three run regular classes across the three class types: Align, Tone, and Power. You can view the full timetable and book at gymbox.com/class/.
Gymbox offers three Reformer class formats through our partnership with Pilat3s. Align is the slower-paced option, focusing on mobility, posture, and foundational movement. It is the recommended starting point if you are new to Reformer. Tone is rhythm-based with quick transitions, core sequences, and pulse work designed to sculpt and burn. Power is the strength-focused class, incorporating weights on the Reformer for compound lifts, deep core work, and muscle building. All three are scalable to your level.
No. All classes are scalable, meaning the instructor will offer modifications based on your level. If you are completely new to Reformer, the Align class is the best place to start. Every session includes on-screen guidance showing the movements from multiple angles, alongside a live instructor who can coach and correct your form throughout. You will not be expected to know anything before your first class.
You need to wear or bring Pilates grip socks, as these are required on the Reformer beds to prevent slipping. If you do not have a pair, you can buy them at reception. Arrive five minutes before your class to find your bed and take part in the health and safety briefing before the session starts.
Each Reformer Pilates class is 60 minutes, which includes the pre-class briefing, the full workout, and a cooldown. Class length and type are shown when booking through the Gymbox app.
Pilat3s is a Reformer Pilates training method that originated in the Netherlands and is built around smart programming, on-screen guidance, and live instructor coaching working together in the same session. The on-screen component means you can follow movements from all angles without craning to watch the instructor, while the live coach provides real-time corrections and progressions. Gymbox partnered with Pilat3s to bring a more structured, scalable, and results-driven approach to Reformer than you would typically find in a standard class format.
Yes. Reformer Pilates is one of the most beginner-friendly strength and conditioning formats because the spring resistance is fully adjustable, the movements are taught progressively, and the low-impact nature means a lower risk of injury than higher-intensity training. At Gymbox, the Align class is specifically designed for people new to Reformer, building foundational movement patterns before progressing to the Tone and Power formats.
Reformer Pilates builds lean muscle, improves core strength and stability, corrects posture, increases flexibility, and supports injury rehabilitation. Because it works through resistance across the full range of motion, it activates muscles that traditional gym training often misses. Physios frequently recommend it for back, hip, and shoulder issues. It is also widely used as a complement to higher-intensity training for recovery and movement quality.
Mat Pilates uses bodyweight only and is performed on the floor. Reformer Pilates uses a spring-loaded machine that adds resistance, support, and instability to movements, making it possible to work through a greater range of motion with more muscle engagement. The Reformer also allows for exercises that are not possible on a mat, including standing work, full leg presses, and loaded rotational movements. For most people, Reformer delivers faster and more measurable strength and posture results than mat-only practice.
Gymbox instructors may offer hands-on corrections to help with form and positioning. If you would prefer not to have physical adjustments, simply let the instructor know before the class starts. Whatever makes you comfortable.
Most dedicated Reformer studios in London charge between £28 and £35 per class or require a separate studio membership. At Gymbox, Reformer Pilates is fully included alongside the full gym, 100 plus weekly classes across seven categories, and a recovery suite including Hyperice recovery zones, infrared saunas, and red light therapy, all from £82 per month. If you want Reformer as part of a broader training routine rather than as a standalone studio habit, Gymbox is the strongest value proposition in London.
Yes. Gymbox offers a free trial at all locations, giving you full access to the gym and the chance to attend a Reformer class before committing to a membership. Book your free trial at free-trial.gymbox.com.
Yes, and many members do. Reformer Pilates works well alongside strength training, Hyrox prep, boxing, or any high-intensity class in the Gymbox timetable, acting as a complement that improves movement quality and supports recovery. Because it is included in your membership, there is no additional cost to mixing it into your weekly training alongside other class categories.
